Halfback Dave (Trapper) Loveridge gave the All Blacks and Taranaki outstanding service. Loveridge became Taranaki's halfback in 1974 and when he retired 12 years later had played 136 times for the province. His performances for the All Blacks between 1978 and 1985 saw him ranked among the greatest and most versatile halfbacks New Zealand has produced.
