Taranaki Sports Awards 1967 - Overall Winner
Bryan Rose was born in Inglewood and grew up mostly in Rahotu. He was in the first New Zealand cross country team to travel, to Ostend in 1965, and was fifth New Zealand scorer. He stayed in the scoring six in each of the teams that placed between fourth and second over four further competitions. His best individual placing was in 1967 when he placed third and won the Taranaki Sports Awards. Rose captained the team from 1969 to 1975. In his final international race he was the team’s sixth scorer, contributing to the team’s historic world title win.
