Pool for everyone at TET Taranaki Masters Games

Sharks, beginners and everybody in between are welcome at the TET Taranaki Masters Games pool tournament.

The tournament starts on Friday 8 March with an evening 9-ball competition then rolls through the weekend with singles 8-ball on Saturday and pairs 8-ball on Sunday.

Organiser Jim Marriner says the venue at TET Multisport Stadium in Stratford is perfect for hosting pool with plenty of good tables and a welcoming atmosphere where people can enjoy each other’s company and play some good pool.

“It’s definitely just a lot of fun and we all try to make it as fun as we can really.”

A round robin format ensures plenty of play for everyone, even if they are not winning and with tasty food, hospitality, and a selection of rack cues for people to use the event is open to all.

“We have got a really good setup and we aim to teach people the rules as we go…you don’t have to be a member of a pool club to take part," he says.

In the past the tournament has drawn players from across Taranaki and people have travelled to make a weekend of it.

Men and women play against each other and the minimum age for entry is 25. Age groups will be grouped together depending on entry numbers.
