He Oranga Mokopuna
He Oranga Mokopuna is a programme focused on assisting and upskilling early childhood centres on different levels so that they can have the most ideal and healthy environment for their ECE.
This programme is delivered through a collaboration of different organisations, working together at different levels in the early childhood setting to assist and help develop the skills and well being of students, parents and teachers. Sport Taranaki, Tui Ora, Taranaki District Health Board and the Healthy Heart foundation work together to make this programme possible and focus on the following key areas - breastfeeding support, active movement and achieving the healthy heart award.
Sport Taranaki and its Kaiwhakahaere have the lead role in the active movement area of the programme which consists of teaching and upskilling the teachers and students about the importance of active movement for brain development, hauora, and the importance of sequential learning.
The number of Early Childhood Centres that can take part in this programme is at capacity for 2017. If you would like you to have your Early Childhood Centre take part in 2018 contact our Kaiwhakahaere at Sport Taranaki for more information.
