Helping everyone in the community have the chance to benefit from physical activity motivated the new chair of Sport Taranaki to take up the role.

Rochelle Farmer has served on the Sport Taranaki board since 2020 and recently stepped into the Chair role, replacing Grant Coward.

A specialist corporate and commercial lawyer at Govett Quilliam, Rochelle says she was drawn to support Sport Taranaki as it plays a key role in supporting Taranaki people to be active and healthy. The regional sports trust works across the community, with a focus on health and wellbeing as well as sport.

“The important work Sport Taranaki does, such as ensuring groups who would otherwise miss out on physical activity are supported to get involved, has motivated me to step into the role of Board Chair,” Rochelle says.

Rochelle, who enjoys spending time in the outdoors, says her role is to help guide and support the team to ensure they can keep making a difference in the community.

“I'm honoured to support our Chief Executive, Michael Carr, and the fantastic team at Sport Taranaki in their important mahi through my role as Board Chair,” she says.
