Clelands Construction Taranaki Sports Awards Nominations Open 

It is time to celebrate the incredible athletes, coaches, teams, officials, clubs, and volunteers who make sport in Taranaki so special.

From outstanding individual athletes and teams to dedicated coaches, game officials, clubs, and volunteers, these awards recognise the passion, talent, and commitment that drive our active community. 

All successful nominees recieve a free ticket to the awards night, personal recognition and a profile boost for their sport, club or community.

To be eligible, achievements must have taken place between 1 October 2025 and 30 September 2026.

Anyone can make a nomination but please check the award category criteria below.

2026 Award Categories

To be eligible, achievements must have taken place between 1 October 2025 and 30 September 2026.

Overall Sportsperson

Selected from the winners of the Junior, Senior, Masters, and Teams categories.

Senior Sportsman

A male who performed with excellence at regional, national or international level as an individual or as part of a team. Nominees must be aged over 20 on 1 October 2025

Senior Sportswoman

A female who performed with excellence at regional, national, or international level, either as an individual or as part of a team

Senior Sports Team

A team of two or more people who have performed with excellence at a regional, national or international level. Team members must be mainly aged 20 or over on 1 October 2025.

Junior Sportswoman

A female aged 16 and over and under 20 at the time of their achievements who has performed with excellence at a regional, national or international level.

Junior Sportsman

A male aged over 16 and under 20 at the time of their achievements who has performed with excellence at a regional, national or international level.

Junior Sports Team

A team of two or more sportspeople, mainly aged over 16 and under 20 on 1 October 2025, that performed with excellence at a regional, national or international level.

Volunteer

Open to any unpaid individual who has given broad service benefiting a sport or active recreation organisation or club who regularly goes above and beyond for their club with little formal recognition. This award is limited to one person per organisation annually.​​​​​​​

Masters

Open to athletes who competed in a sanctioned event as a Masters participant and performed with excellence at a regional, national or international level.

Coach

Open to any coach at the regional, national, or international level, this category judges not only team results, but also the art of coaching. This includes aspects of people management, team culture, communication, mentoring, and the development of both the person and the athlete, as well as the adoption of innovative methods and leadership across a team or teams.

Game Official

Open to any game official at the regional, national, or international level. This category considers their officiating appointments and achievements, together with their broader contributions to the sport. These could include things like mentoring peers, enhancing the sport's reputation, supporting recruitment, retention, or other innovative initiatives

Club

Open to any outstanding sports or active recreation club that has consistently excelled. Nominees must shine in at least two of the following areas:

  • Competition results
  • Significant club improvements
  • Increasing community impact
  • Improvements in volunteer and member management
  • Positive management and development of facilities and finances
  • Innovative and collaborative practice
  • Development of coaches, game officials, and administrators

Where relevant  include membership and other data to allow comparisons to be made over three years of operation, together with relevant strategic planning documents and outcomes.
