2022 Taranaki Sports Awards -  Senior Sportswoman of the Year

Breaking records around the world made for another stand-out season for Zoe Hobbs in 2022/23. She became the first women in Oceania to run a sub 11 second 100m (10.97) and became the fastest woman to have ever run on Australian soil. At the World Athletics Championships in Budapest she finished 10th, just being edged out of the final by 0.01 seconds. Hobbs, who clocked her new personal best time of 10.96 in July 2023, competed in 5 Diamond League events this year, qualifying for the final and eventually finishing 9th in 11.18. She has run under the Olympic Games qualifying standard of 11.07 and if selected for the Games it will be the first time that a female sprinter has represented New Zealand at the Olympics since 1976. Hobbs also dominated domestically, resetting the New Zealand Resident Record and the all-Comers record twice and broke the New Zealand record three times during the season, picking up her seventh consecutive national 100m title in the process. Off the track Hobbs was also a Taranaki Good Sports ambassador.
