Dave Baldwin had a remarkable lawn bowls career, including Commonwealth Games medals and national titles, and throughout it all was a hard-working “club man” of the bowling community.  Baldwin excelled at football, tennis, cricket, table tennis and gymnastics, but it was lawn bowls where he ultimately made his mark. A Taranaki representative for 25 years, Baldwin won Commonwealth Games Gold in the Fours at the 1974 Commonwealth Games, then followed this up with a Silver medal four years later. His service to the bowls community was recognised with life membership of the Paritutu Bowling Club and Bowls Taranaki. He won the Taranaki Sportsperson of the Year titles in 1974 and 1990.
