Kia ora koutou, Welcome to the latest edition of Active For Life. I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all who participated in the TET Taranaki Masters Games. With 18 different sporting codes represented, the event catered to a wide range of interests and abilities. It was great to see such enthusiastic community engagement and participation. We also enjoyed the chance to connect at the Healthy Active Ageing Forum & Expo in Hāwera. The event offered valuable health advice, local service connections, and engaging ways to stay active. It was a busy few months in our community with the success of the REPLAY x Rebel Sport NZ Boot initiative and Our Healthy Active Learning team supporting Sanitarium TRY Challenges, which brought physical activity and fun to local schools. These events play a vital role in accessing physical activity among tamariki. We recently welcomed a new group of young athletes into the Future Champions Programme, in partnership with TSSSA. Future Champions offers mentoring, personal development, and a range of workshops to help athletes unlock their potential. We are also happy to support the launch of Positive Vibes Only in Taranaki. Originally developed by Sport Waikato, this initiative promotes a positive, inclusive sporting culture that includes young athletes, coaches, officials, administrators, and supporters. Finally, a reminder that nominations are now open for the Taranaki Sports Hall of Fame, with nominations for the Taranaki Sports Awards opening in early August. We encourage you to recognise and celebrate the outstanding contributions made to sport in our community. Ngā mihi nui, Michael Carr CE Sport Taranaki |

Sport Taranaki Supports Sanitarium TRY Challenges |
Our Healthy Active Learning team supported the Sanitarium TRY Challenge events held at three schools over three days. Normanby School hosted Kakaramea School. Midhirst School hosted Avon School and Waitara Central School hosted Waitara East School, Lepperton School, Huirangi School, Urenui School and St Joseph's Waitara School. It is always amazing to see the tamariki smiling, having fun and smashing their goals and the huge whānau involvement this year was a highlight. |

Positive Vibes Only |
The Positive Vibes Only campaign is gaining pace in Taranaki! Originally developed by Sport Waikato, this initiative promotes and supports a positive sporting environment for tamariki, rangatahi, and all those involved in sport – including coaches, officials, administrators, managers, and supporters. The campaign focuses on promoting positivity and encouraging people to shift their language and behavior in a constructive way. It aims to create an environment where everyone can enjoy sport in a supportive and uplifting atmosphere. So awesome to see some of our steering group members – Central Football, Taranaki Hockey, and TSSSA – leading by example and embracing the pink Positive Vibes Only branding. If you see any pink on the sideline or court make sure you grab a pink sticker to remind everyone it's Positive Vibes Only this season! |
