Sport Taranaki is a charitable trust, established in 1989, dedicated to the promotion of sport and physical recreation in Taranaki. Sport Taranaki is a community focused organisation whose role is to identify and respond to the sport and physical activity needs of people of all ages in the Taranaki region.
Part funded by SPARC (Sport and Recreation New Zealand), Sport Taranaki is one of 17 Regional Sports Trusts located throughout New Zealand. Our staff of 21 are in teams - Education, Participation and Sport Development - and work towards the goals of Sport Taranaki. They are supported by Sport Taranaki's administration team of five including Sport Taranaki's CEO, Howie Tamati.
Sport Taranaki's vision is to Inspire A Healthy Active Community.

- Congratulations to local ultra distance marathon runner Lisa Tamati for completing the Badwater Ultra Marathon - the toughest foot race in the world. She did this in 38.24.43 hours making her 24th overall and the 10th women.

New Zealand U18 Junior Women's Inline Hockey Team

| Won gold in the Women's U18 International Division in Philadelphia. The team includes from Taranaki: Coach Anna Carrington, Rebecca Smith, Abby Bridgeman, Amy Sulzberger and Diana Bridgeman as team official. |
