SportsFuture is a TSB Community Trust funded intiative designed to work collaboratively with sport to develop professinally driven and fiscally sound sports administration for Regional Sports Organisations and clubs. 

In May of each year Expressions of Interest are called for to be part of the SportsFuture programme.  Applicants are determined on the following criteria:

• participation numbers with particular emphasis on junior participation
• administratively and fiscally sound
• adherance to a growth strategy
• officially recognised RSO
• National Sports Organisation (NSO) endorsement
• hold regional importance, eg sports particular impact on the lives of Taranaki people
• adherance to a strategic plan

Each year, three SportsFuture sports proceed into a CoachForce contract with Sport Taranaki, opening the way for three more codes to enter the SportsFuture programme. 

Currently there are 8 sports codes who are in a SportsFuture contract with Sport Taranaki.  These are Bowls Taranaki, Taranaki Rugby League, Swimming Taranaki, Taranaki Badminton, Surfing Taranaki, Skate Sports Taranaki, Taranaki Tennis and Gymsport NZ.
